Born Twins

Born Twins is an Austin, TX indie band—not the heavy, gritty side of indie rock, but more of a catch-a-vibe, melodic flavor. I hadn’t heard of them until this year, despite the band members being active since the early 2000s. Born Twins is their most recent project, featuring Mayberry on lead guitar and vocals, Lujan on drums and bass organ, and Gwyneth Lujan on keys and synth.

After listening to their latest album, Drowning in Static Fiction, I can’t wait to see them live this year. They’re playing their album release party this weekend at The Aristocrat Lounge, and next week on 2/27 at Buzz Mill Coffee at 7pm.

About Drowning in Static Fiction:

  • Circling Sharks
  • Lost in the City
  • Crowded Room
  • Love Me to Death
  • Elephant
  • Always Behind
  • Video in a Graveyard
  • Jessie’s Girl
  • Wait for Me
  • The Exploding Boy

For 10 tracks, this is a pretty solid album. My personal favorites are “Lost in the City,” “Crowded Room,” and “Wait for Me” as the slow burner.

In the end, I just wanted more—not because it wasn’t enough, but because it was that good.
